Sample preparation
guide

Proper sample preparation ensures accurate results and faster turnaround. Follow these guidelines before shipping your samples to our facility.

//GENERAL GUIDELINES

These rules apply to all sample types and analytical methods.

01Use clean, dry, airtight containers — glass vials preferred for powders and liquids.
02Label each sample clearly with a unique identifier matching your order.
03Include a minimum of 50 mg of powder or 1 mL of liquid per test requested.
04Double-bag or wrap fragile containers in bubble wrap to prevent breakage in transit.
05Do not mix multiple samples in the same container.
06Ship samples at ambient temperature unless otherwise instructed.

Each analytical method has specific sample requirements. Make sure you meet the minimums for the test(s) you've ordered.

HPLC

METHOD
MINIMUM AMOUNT≥ 50 mg (powder) or ≥ 1 mL (solution)

NOTESDissolve in compatible solvent if submitting solution. Note solvent used.

GC-MS

METHOD
MINIMUM AMOUNT≥ 25 mg (powder) or ≥ 0.5 mL (liquid)

NOTESMust be volatile or semi-volatile. Contact us for non-volatile compounds.

LC-MS

METHOD
MINIMUM AMOUNT≥ 25 mg (powder) or ≥ 0.5 mL (solution)

NOTESHigh-sensitivity method — avoid cross-contamination between samples.

FTIR

METHOD
MINIMUM AMOUNT≥ 10 mg (powder) or thin film
CONTAINERGlass vial or sealed bag
NOTESSample must be dry. Wet or oily samples may require additional preparation.

PACKAGE SECURELY

Place each labeled vial in a padded envelope or small box. Use enough cushioning to prevent movement.

INCLUDE ORDER INFO

Print or write your order number on a slip of paper and include it in the package.

SEAL & LABEL

Seal the outer package and address it to the laboratory. The shipping address is provided in your confirmation email.

SHIP WITH TRACKING

Use a carrier with tracking (USPS Priority, UPS, FedEx). Standard shipping is fine for most samples.

Chain of Custody Form

Print this form and include it in your shipment. It documents your samples and establishes the custody trail.
